
Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — New Mexico State Police Officer Ismael Perez is taking home a national award after being seen on camera saving an infant’s life. On July 24th, 2023. Officer Perez responded to an emergency call regarding a mother in distress who had given birth on the way to the hospital. Perez went up to a vehicle and saw the baby was unresponsive, and still attached to the umbilical cord. Officer Perez provided medical aid until the baby’s cries could be heard. He’s just one of four officers across the nation who received the award.
