An Albuquerque child is now in the care of CYFD after she was found wandering a Duke City street on Monday afternoon. The three-year-old was found by a neighbor on Stover, near 8th Street. Police distributed her image to the media and a relative, as well as some teachers, came forward to identify her.
APD Officer Simon Drobik tells us the information led them to the girl’s mother. He says she’s being questioned and has felony charges against her. But he says those charges will be cleared through the DA’s Office.
Police say the mother told them she had left the child with the little girl’s uncle. Her five-year-old sister is also in the care of CYFD on a 48-hour hold.
