Both of our featured dogs from last week Eeyore and Gorda have been adopted!
We have two handsome boys to feature this week.
Oscar (ID# A 1715191) is a 2 year old, male tricolor Boxer & American Pit Bull Terrier mix. He weighs 48 pounds. Oscar came in as a stray and was a bit on the shy side when he arrived. Sadly his parents never came looking for him. He is a fairly mellow boy with just the right amount of spirit and walks well on leash. He enjoys taking daily walks investigating the world around him. He enjoys chasing tennis balls but has not quite learned the art of fetching and returning the ball. If you have two tennis balls he begins to catch on. He enjoys being with people, being petted and he will sneak in a little kiss if allowed. Oscar was a brave boy when the great big garbage truck passed us by during a walk and he was curious what that loud air brake was yet he can be a bit nervous around new things. It is always important to help your new companion become comfortable around those things we take for granted like the big scary garbage trucks. It will make life easier for you and your companion if you gradually help them enjoy car rides, perhaps visits to appropriate pet friendly places and anything else unique to your life. Since Oscar arrived a bit on the shy side we think he would do best with children 8 and over. Oscar is ready for his forever home and a person to share life with especially if you have tennis balls. You will find him at our Eastside shelter.
Bronx (ID# A 1712740) is a 1 year & 2 month old, male brown & white American Pit Bull Terrier mix. You will notice in his picture there may be some pointer in his mix. He weighs 44 pounds. Bronx came to us as a stray and was a very shy boy. He would hide in the outer portion of his kennel. He wanted to be with people so would slink up to his kennel door and bat his pretty eyes hoping for a kind word. Although Bronx can be timid for a couple moments he now sits hopeful at his kennel door and is eager to come out for play, a walk or loving. Bronx still has some puppy qualities. Initially he can jump up but he is very gentle about it. After a few moments he begins to walk better on leash. Bronx like any new companion would benefit from attending the free training classes to hone his skills. He knows the cue for sit and is eager to please. Bronx is eager to greet and play with other dogs. He has attended many play groups and thoroughly enjoys play time. He enjoys a good game of chase. Bronx has too many play buddies to mention all of them but he really likes Hope the foster we featured a week ago and the two lab sisters Sara & Sonia also previously featured. He also enjoys play with our small basset mix named Montey and energetic herding girl Tanisha. Bronx is one of our helper dogs when staff is assessing a dog during the temperament test. Yes, Bronx is a playful energetic boy but he also has a very gentle sweet side. He gently encourages his human friends to give him a belly rub and he is quick to offer a kiss. Bronx enjoys toys and wants to share in any fun activity he sees. He could be a great play mate for children 6 and over. Bronx could be a great hiking and jogging partner for those of you with a bit more energy. Do you have a bit of patience to help puppy Bronx with general training? You will be rewarded with a devoted loving companion. Come meet your new best friend at the Eastside location.
