Down but not out. Albuquerque’s Joy Light Church of God in Christ was badly damaged in a fire Monday afternoon, but the building is still there and the congregation plans to rebuild.
The church opened its doors in 1952 and was the site for Abq’s civil rights movement back in the 1950s. It also housed one of New Mexico’s oldest African-American congregations.
