The Albuquerque City Council Monday night is expected to consider several proposals dealing with APD. In an effort to clear up the rape kits backlog, Councilor and former Police Officer Pat Davis will propose a resolution to set deadlines for Albuquerque Police to send new rape kits to the lab to have them tested.
Councilor Dan Lewis will propose that the city set up a scholarship program for students to major in forensic technology so they can eventually be hired to test rape kits.
Another proposal from Davis would have officer-involved shootings investigated by outside agencies.
