Three children shot to death in Albuquerque by a man who briefly dated their mother and other young victims of violence or abuse in Albuquerque were celebrated and honored on Civic Plaza Thursday night.
Hundreds turned out for the so-called Angel Tree Lighting, which also honored 9-year-old Omaree Varela- kicked to death by his mother, who is now serving 40 years in prison; Jayden Chavez-Silver- the Manzano High School Football Player shot to death in a drive by shooting; Victoria Martens- sexually abused and murdered in crimes that included her own mother’s participation, and; 4-year-old Lilly Garcia- killed in a road rage incident.
The Angel Tree will stay up on Civic Plaza until January 1st.
