Authorities in Valencia County say they’ve found the remains of a one-year-old girl in the rubble of a house fire in Rio Communities east of Belen. Other family members- the mother, grandmother, and two other children- were able to escape the home when the fire broke out around 5 o’clock Tuesday evening, but the one-year-old was not accounted for.
Crews had to shut off the gas and utilities before firefighters could get into the house. The mother has been hospitalized for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
