Silly the small German Shepherd we featured last week went home on Saturday…..hooray! Tammy the sweet mellow pittie is hopeful she will soon find her forever home.
We have another two-some this week that are very bonded to each other and would do best going home together. These affectionate sweet loving dogs were surrendered when their owner moved.
Levi (ID# A 1614339) is a 3 year old, male, golden Labrador Retriever mix. He must have quite a bit of Corgi in him like his sister with his short little legs. He weighs 41.6 pounds. Lady Buckingham (ID# A 089322) is a 9 year old, female tan & black Welsh Corgi-Cardigan and Basset hound mix. She weighs 46.4 pounds. Again our volunteer photographers have captured their beauty. You will see Levi with his curious happy expression and Lady Buckingham’s regal pose showing off her gorgeous one blue and one brown eye. These two are peas in a pod. They are nearly the same size in all ways. They have lovely soft coats and are pretty good with brushing. Levi and Lady were brought to our attention for additions to our Volunteer Shy Dog Program. Like many of the dogs surrendered to our shelter they were timid and shell shocked with the unfamiliar surroundings and being left behind by their parents. Once they had a chance to acclimate a bit and met friendly faces they began to warm up and trust. We noticed that these two must be house trained as they wouldn’t even use the outside portion of their kennel. Our volunteer potty brigade team began taking them out at least twice a day. They are kenneled together and when taken out together they just love to run around and play with each other. Levi on occasion will “herd” his sister by giving a playful nip at her behind so that speaks to the probability that he has some Corgi in his genes too. Lady often has her nose to the ground investigating which speaks to the Basset (scent hound) portion of her gene makeup. Lady can find a small hole and then puts her nose to the ground digging to make a perfect place to lie down and cool off after some play. Like any dog coming to a new home they may take a little time to become acclimated and familiar with their new surroundings and family. These two have become very affectionate and loving. They will be devoted companions and great constant shadows with their forever parents. They are oh so cute when they are on each side of someone, sitting up on their short little legs with paws on each knee sidling up for petting or kisses. It is a joy to watch them run around and play. You just can’t stop smiling when in the company of this brother and sister team. Levi and Lady are a dream to walk on leash. They know what “want to go for a walk” means and light up when you ask them. They are easily leashed and love to take walks sniffing and investigating during their walk. They do seem to be timid perhaps a bit frightened of other and larger dogs. Adopt these two into your home and you will have the perfect number in your canine family. Levi and Lady can be found at our Eastside shelter.
