NO PROSECUTION OF FORMER ALBUQUERQUE JUDGE

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) A now-former District Court judge in Albuquerque who was arrested and accused of raping a prostitute won't be prosecuted. The District Attorney's Office in Santa Fe says it won't press charges against Albert S. “Pat'' Murdoch'' in the 2011 case.

Murdoch has maintained he is innocent and his attorney, Ahmad Assed tells the Albuquerque Journal that he isn't surprised by the decision. Assed also says it's unfortunate that Murdoch's name was dragged through the mud as a result of what the lawyer called “groundless accusations.''

Murdoch retired shortly after his arrest by Albuquerque police at his courthouse office. He was the presiding judge at the time.

Prosecutors in Bernalillo County asked the Santa Fe district attorney to handle the case because of a potential conflict of interest.
