NM MAN GETS PRISON FOR WRECK THAT TOOK BOY’S LIFE

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) An Albuquerque man faces six years in prison after sentenced on convictions stemming from an accident that resulted in the death of a young boy riding in another vehicle. KRQE-TV reports that Mariano Salaz was sentenced Wednesday for vehicular homicide and driving while under the influence.

The convictions stem from the August collision in which 2-year-old Vincente Griego suffered a serious brain injury. He was taken off life support a week later.

Salaz apologized to the Griego family in court. He said he'll speak to high school students about the dangers of drunk driving.
