Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — New Mexico has hired a new head basketball coach. Eric Olen comes from U-C San Diego of the Big West, where he spent 21 seasons – with the last 12 as head coach. Olen has spent his entire coaching career with the Tritons, which may be a positive coming to a Lobo program that’s seen as a stepping stone for coaches. Richard Pitino quit after 4 years to take the job at Xavier in Cincinnati.
