Human trafficking boss caught

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — On Wednesday, U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested Yajair Lizzet Lara in Oklahoma City. She’s accused of leading a human trafficking operation in Albuquerque. Also known as Lara Mendez, investigators claim she’s responsible for leading an organization that operated an alleged stash house, and collecting more than $500,000 from migrants who she’s accused of illegally smuggling in from Mexico. In response to the arrest Gov. Lujan Grisham said, this is just the beginning, we will not tolerate the exploitation of our most vulnerable. Lara will return to Albuquerque to face federal charges of human smuggling.
