Norovirus on the rise

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — The New Mexico Department of Health has expressed concern about the upward trend of norovirus cases in New Mexico. The department says this year’s viral activity may reach pre-pandemic levels of spread. The virus causes nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. While more common in the winter months, this year, NMDOH said it’s popping up more as holiday gatherings have ramped up. Symptoms usually start 24 to 48 hours after people are exposed. If they’re severe and last longer than three days, NMDOH advises people to seek medical attention.
