Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — New Mexico is the 12th state to offer the option to link your driver’s license to your smartphone. The newer mobile IDs on Apple and Android phones starting means you can use your phone’s ID at some businesses or even get through the airport. The digital IDs are already being used at airports across the country and don’t need to be used in tandem with a physical ID. MVD says it started the digital ID program within their normal operating budget and there’s no charge to add the ID to your phone. The Tax and Rev department reports it’s working with the New Mexico Restaurant Association to get businesses to use the new technology for age verification.
