Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham today revealed plans to seek proposals for a master plan to redevelop the New Mexico State Fairgrounds, transforming 236 acres in central Albuquerque. The project could include housing, commerce, and entertainment venues. Lujan Grisham emphasized that the initiative would drive investment and growth in the International District. The request for proposals will seek consulting firms with expertise in urban planning and economic development. The plan will focus on new venues, potential housing, and addressing the city’s need for 55,000 new homes over the next decade. Public input will be invited once a contractor is selected. The RFP is available on EXPO New Mexico’s website, with proposals due in January.
