Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — A surge in threats against schools in the past year has local law enforcement asking for help. Albuquerque Police Chief Harold Medina is calling on state lawmakers to increase penalties for threatening violence against schools. He says there has to be a punishment. Medina joined by the local FBI office in calling for tougher penalties in the upcoming legislative session. Threats are a federal crime, but are more difficult to prosecute than a state offense.
