Four constitutional amendments earn voters approval

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Last night New Mexico voters approved four state constitutional amendments. Constitutional Amendment 1 will expand tax exemptions to all disabled veterans. The second amendment on the ballot allows honorable discharged veterans to claim a larger property tax exemption, starting this tax year. Amendment 3 changes the makeup for the commission that nominates judges for the state supreme and appeals courts. The fourth amendment now gives county commissions to set the salaries of county officers, rather than the state legislature.
