Migrant transportation interrupted

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Mexican nationals Mario Burciaga Flores and Jose Perez Hernandez are facing felony charges for allegedly trying to smuggle 10 migrants to Albuquerque. They were arrested last week by members of the U.S. Border Patrol’s Anti-Smuggling Unit, who were tracking a four-vehicle caravan with 12 occupants, that were allegedly trying to circumvent a highway checkpoint on Interstate 25. Both drivers telling authorities that they had been recently smuggled from Mexico to the United States and staying at a house in Las Cruces when someone there offered them jobs as drivers. The two instructed to drive migrants to Albuquerque, allowing the migrants interstate highway connections to Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Oklahoma.
