Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — A groundbreaking took place at UNM Hospital today for a new building that will house a psychiatric center for children. The plans include more beds, more providers, and “modern” psychiatric care. There will also be play areas for kids. UNMH’s CEO Kate Becker says, there will be two separate age-appropriate play areas with appropriate equipment, which is important for children, especially in the behavioral health space. Funding for the replacement center comes from a 2022 Higher Education GO Bond approved by voters. The project is expected to take two years to complete.
