Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — In January Amanda Sheppard and her boyfriend Jonathan Olivas were in Duran’s Restaurant in Old Town eating when her purse dropped to the ground and a gun inside the bag went off. Olivas then admitted to picking up a casing from the ground and walking out. The errant bullet ended up wounding another restaurant patron in the head. Sheppard told authorities she didn’t know it was in her purse that day. Olivas, pled guilty last month to evidence tampering and blamed Sheppard. Today, Sheppard avoided jail time and pled no contest to a single count of tampering with evidence.
