Albuquerque, NM KKOB) — Today Judge Stan Whitaker sentenced Christina Bennett to 10 years in prison. In July of 2023 she was charged with exposing her infant daughter to meth, which lead to the childs death. In court Bennett’s 13 year old daughter read a letter out loud, saying in part, “I’m very angry and depressed. A mother is supposed to protect her kids. Christina did not, and my life may never be the same.” The incident raised questions about CYFD and APD’s response. CYFD said they were unaware of an outstanding felony warrant for child abuse charges Bennett had at the time of her infant daughter’s death. Judge Whitaker said he wasn’t going to blame CYFD for what happened.
