Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — A beloved landmark on the UNM campus is in line for a renovation. Wednesday, Nov. 6th, from 4 to 4:45 p.m. the public is invited to the groundbreaking of the comprehensive renewal project for the Duck Pond. Designed by Garrett Eckbo and completed in 1976, it’s a man-made urban water feature, that has become well-known throughout the Albuquerque area. The revitalization project aims to replace aging infrastructure, enhance water quality, improve safety and accessibility, and reduce maintenance demands. The shape and general appearance of the Duck Pond will remain unchanged, including the waterfall. The project is expected to wrap up in Spring 2025.
