Kirtland Air Force Base, NM (KKOB) — Kirtland AFB and USDA Forest Service will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony for Cibola National Forest Air Tanker Base on Friday, 17 May at 9:00 a.m. MDT.
The new Air Tanker Base on Kirtland increases U.S. Forest Service capabilities to respond to wildfires in the region.
Construction of this Air Tanker Base took roughly two years to complete and became operational on Monday, 29 April. Leaders will be visiting Cibola National Forest Air Tanker Base located at Kirtland AFB for a tour of the facilities.
