Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — New Mexico State Police officers located a suspect who had car jacked multiple vehicles after fleeing from a traffic stop from the Albuquerque Police Department (APD).
January 27, 2024, NMSP received a call from APD regarding a stolen vehicle that fled from them and was driving the wrong way into oncoming traffic on Central Avenue. APD had their air unit tracking the vehicle. NMSP officers were in the area of State Road 333 in Edgewood waiting to assist if they needed to.
As the vehicle was driving down State Road 333, the driver stopped and carjacked a blue BMW by pulling the driver out of their seat. A pursuit was authorized, and spike sticks were successfully deployed but the BMW continued to flee. The BMW turned north onto State Road 14.
APD advised from the air the suspect attempted to car jack another vehicle on SR 14 and Frost but was unsuccessful. Near La Ladera, the suspect carjacked a second vehicle, a Porsche 911 and continued to flee. The suspect turned down a dirt road and the pursuit was terminated due to officers losing visual of the Porsche. Officers still proceeded in the same direction since the dirt road only had one exit. The driver of the Porsche drove through 2 gates and 3 fences in an attempt to elude officers. The Porsche became stuck approximately a mile away from the Black Mesa Casino. The suspect fled on foot, where he was located and taken into custody.
The suspect is identified as David Crespin (36) of Albuquerque. He was taken into custody and booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center on his 2 active arrest warrants and charged with 2 counts of robbery, aggravated fleeing, criminal damage to property and other traffic violations.
