Man Charged for Bomb Under the Bed

IT’S A DANGEROUS RECIPE. A PRESSURE COOKER, BLACK POWDER, NAPALM AND SHRAPNEL SUCH AS NUTS AND BOLTS. THAT’S WHAT PROSECUTORS SAY 20 YEAR OLD ETHAN GUILLEN OF ALBUQUERQUE USED TO BUILD A BOMB IN MAY OF 2017. WHILE HIS FORMER GIRLFRIEND AND HER FAMILY WERE ATTENDING A GRADUATION, HE ENTERED HER HOME AND PLANTED THE DEVICE UNDER HER BED AND SET IT TO GO OFF EARLY THE NEXT MORNING. HOWEVER, THE BOMB FAILED TO DETONATE AND WAS FOUND BY THE INTENDED VICTIM SEVERAL DAYS LATER.

GUILLEN HAS PLEADED GUILTY IN FEDERAL COURT TO THE CHARGES RELATED TO THE BOMBING ATTEMPT AND IS AWAITING SENTENCING. THE ATTEMPT TO DESTROY PROPERTY CARRIES A SENTENCE OF 5-TO-20 YEARS WHILE THE BOMB-MAKING CHARGE COULD ADD ANOTHER 10 YEARS.
