Crosswalk Vandalism Investigated as Hate Crime

THE RAINBOW CROSSWALK VANDALISM IN ALBUQUERQUE’S NOB HILL IS NOW BEING INVESTIGATED AS A HATE CRIME. THE CROSSWALKS WERE PAINTED BRIGHT BARS OF COLOR, BUT ONE WAS DAMAGED THIS WEEK WHEN TWO PEOPLE ON MOTORCYCLES BURNED OUT THEIR TIRES INTENTIONALLY ON THE CROSSWALK AT MORNINGSIDE AND CENTRAL, ONE OF THE CROSSWALKS PAINTED TO SHOW SUPPORT FOR ALBUQUERQUE’S LGBQIT COMMUNITY.

THE PRESIDENT OF ALBUQUERQUE PRIDE TELLS KOB TV IT’S HARD TO TELL EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. BUT CRAIG LABERGE ESPARZA SAYS IT WAS STILL A PERSONAL ATTACK ON THE CITY’S GAY COMMUNITY.
