A 12 YEAR OLD GIRL IS ARRESTED FOR DRUNK DRIVING AND LEADING POLICE ON A CHASE. SHE HAD FRIENDS IN THE CAR WITH HER WHEN THE CHASE GOT UNDERWAY IN ALAMOGORDO RECENTLY. IT ALL STARTED WITH A PHONE CALL REPORTING A SUSPICIOUS CAR.
OFFICERS TRIED TO PULL THE CAR OVER ON WEST U-S HIGHWAY 70, BUT THE DRIVER SPED OFF TO SOUTH US-HIGHWAY 54 WHERE THEY LOST CONTROL ON A CURVE AND SLAMMED INTO A STREET SIGN. THE VEHICLE ALSO NEARLY HIT TWO POLICE CARS. THAT’S WHEN OFFICERS FOUND THE 12 YEAR OLD GIRL WAS DRIVING.
POLICE CHIEF BRIAN PEETE SAYS THE ARRESTING OFFICERS TOLD HER TO PUT HER HANDS UP AND LAY ON THE GROUND. HER FATHER SAID IF THEY NEEDED TO PUT HER IN JAIL … DO IT. LUCKILY, NO ONE WAS INJURED.
