DARIAN BASHIR … THE MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING LOBO BASEBALL PLAYER JACKSON WELLER, WAS IN COURT SUNDAY FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE HIS ARREST ON SATURDAY. WELLER WAS SHOT AND KILLED AFTER A FIGHT IN NOB HILL LAST WEEKEND NEAR CENTRAL AND RICHMOND.
AFTER BEING ON THE RUN FOR A WEEK, KOB TV REPORTS BASHIR WAS ARRESTED SATURDAY MORNING AT A NORTHEAST HEIGHTS APARTMENT COMPLEX. HE THEN WENT FOR HIS ARRAIGNMENT ON SUNDAY BEFORE METRO COURT JUDGE DAVID MURPHY, WHO TOLD BASHIR HE’D BE HELD IN JAIL UNTIL HIS TRIAL.
A DISTRICT COURT JUDGE STILL HAS TO AGREE TO THOSE TERMS. THAT COURT DATE HASN’T BEEN SET YET. IT’S THE THIRD TIME THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO HAS TRIED TO KEEP BASHIR IN JAIL BEFORE TRIAL.
