PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHERS ARE LEAVING THEIR JOBS IN DROVES IN NEW MEXICO. A REPORTS FROM NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY SHOWS THERE WERE 300 EMPTY TEACHER JOBS IN 2017. THAT NUMBER HAS NOW CLIMBED TO 740 TEACHERS WHO HAVE LEFT THEIR JOBS.
THE STATE HAS BECOME INCREASINGLY RELIANT ON SUBSTITUTES. IN FACT, SOME DISTRICTS ARE HIRING THEM OUTRIGHT, REGARDLESS OF THE ISSUES CONNECTED WITH THAT. FOR ONE, SUBS ARE NOT CERTIFIED. THEY ALSO DON’T BUILD LESSON PLANS ARE REGULAR TEACHERS DO … AND DON’T MEET WITH PARENTS.
