NEW MEXICO STATE POLICE ARE GETTING A BETTER LOOK AT CAR CRASHES. THAT COMES WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF DRONES TO THEIR INVESTIGATION EFFORTS WHEN CRASHES OCCUR. AND NOT ONLY DO POLICE GET A MORE ACCURATE LAYOUT OF THE ACCIDENT, IT NOW TAKES THEM LESS TIME TO INVESTIGATE. SERGEANT LAUREN MILLIGAN WITH STATE POLICE SAYS IT CUTS THEIR INVESTIGATIVE TIME IN HALF.
STATE POLICE STARTED USING DRONES IN 2017, TAKING AERIAL PHOTOS OF DRUNK DRIVING CRASHES THAT INVOLVED INJURIES. THEY LEARNED HOW TO BRIGHTEN THE IMAGES TO THEY COULD BETTER INVESTIGATE CRASH THAT HAPPENED AT 2 IN THE MORNING.
SIX OFFICERS HAVE BEEN TRAINED TO FLY THE DRONES.
