Albuquerque Voters to Decide on Bond Package This Fall

ALBUQUERQUE MAYOR TIM KELLER HAS SIGNED A GENERAL OBLIGATION BOND PACKAGE APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL EARLIER THIS MONTH. IT’LL GO BEFORE ALBUQUERQUE VOTERS THIS FALL.

THE BIG TICKET ITEM IS 30-MILLION DOLLARS FOR ROAD IMPROVEMENTS. THERE’S ALSO 14 MILLION DOLLARS FOR A 24/7, CENTRALLY LOCATED HOMELESS SHELTER, AND MORE THAN SEVEN MILLION DOLLARS FOR PUBLIC SAFETY.

THE MAYOR SAYS THE PROPOSAL DOESN’T RAISE TAXES…INSTEAD IT USES EXISTING TAX REVENUE TO ISSUE BONDS TO FUND THE PROJECTS.
