A FORMER STATE OFFICIAL WHO FACES PUBLIC CORRUPTION CHARGES SAYS THE ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE VIOLATED HER DUE PROCESS RIGHTS. ACCORDING TO THE ASSOCIATED PRESS, FORMER TAXATION AND REVENUE DEPT SECRETARY DEMESIA PADILLA CLAIMS THE A-G’S OFFICE USED A RECORDING DEVICE, HIDDEN IN A COFFEE POT, TO RECORD A CONVERSATION SHE HAD WITH HER LAWYER.
THE A-G’S OFFICE DENIES THE ALLEGATION. PADILLA IS ASKING THAT THE CHARGES AGAINST HER BE DISMISSED. A RULING COULD COME LATER THIS MONTH.
