APD CHIEF MICHAEL GEIER IS UPDATING THE DEPARTMENT’S OVERTIME POLICIES THAT HE SAYS ARE OUTDATED. THE CHANGES INCLUDE PROVIDING COMMANDERS WITH DATA ABOUT OVERTIME USAGE AND HOLDING THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR MANAGING OVERTIME.
THE CIVILIAN POLICE OVERSIGHT AGENCY RECENTLY RECOMMENDED THAT APD SPOKESMAN SIMON DROBIK BE FIRED AFTER INVESTIGATING HIS OVERTIME PAY. WHILE GEIER SAYS HE AGREES WITH MANY OF THE AGENCY’S FINDINGS, HE DISAGREES WITH THE RECOMMENDED LEVEL OF DISCIPLINE. DROBIK, HOWEVER, WILL BE PUT ON ADMINISTRATIVE ASSIGNMENT…REQUIRING HIM TO REPORT DIRECTLY TO THE DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF.
