D-A’s Program Said to Fight Gun Violence

THE BERNALILLO COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY SAYS HE NOW HAS A PROGRAM TO FIGHT GUN VIOLENCE IN THE COUNTY. THIS FOLLOWS MONDAY’S REPORT THAT 114 PEOPLE WERE SHOT IN THE COUNTY SINCE THE START OF 2019.

D-A RAUL TORREZ TELLS KOB TV THAT HE’LL USE CRIME DATA TO FORM STRATEGIES TO FIGHT CRIME AND GUN VIOLENCE. PART OF THE PROGRAM WILL FOCUS ON THE MOTIVATION FOR THESE SHOOTINGS THAT RANGE FROM DOMESTIC VIOLENCE TO ROAD RAGE TO DRUG TRAFFICKING.

TORREZ ALSO WANTS TO EMPLOY GUN VIOLENCE ANALYSTS WITH THE NATIONAL NETWORK FOR SAFE COMMUNITIES TO TRACK FUTURE SHOOTINGS AND TRENDS.
