THE NEW MEXICO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH IS RENEWING ITS CALL FOR ANYONE TREATED AT THE NOW-CLOSED V-I-P SPA IN ALBUQUERQUE TO GET TESTED FOR H-I-V. THE DEPARTMENT IS CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING TWO CASES OF H-I-V INFECTION AMONG CLIENTS OF THE SPA.
THE TIME-FRAME FOR THE QUESTIONABLE TREATMENTS IS FROM MAY TO SEPTEMBER OF 2018. ANYONE WHO WAS TREATED AT THE SPA DURING THAT TIME IS ENCOURAGED TO GET FREE, CONFIDENTIAL TESTING.
THE V-I-P SPA CLOSED IN SEPTEMBER AFTER INSPECTORS FOUND PRACTICES THAT COULD SPREAD BLOOD-BORNE INFECTIONS SUCH AS H-I-V, HEPATITIS “B” AND “C.”
