PNM Hopes to Alter Facebook Proposal

PNM WILL REFILE ITS REQUEST ON MONDAY WITH THE PUBLIC REGULATION COMMISSION TO RECONSIDER IT’S DECISION TO REJECT THE UTILITY’S PROPOSAL THAT WOULD HAVE RATEPAYERS RESPONSIBLE FOR HALF OF THE COST OF A NEW TRANSMISSION LINE SERVING FACEBOOK’S DATA CENTER IN LOS LUNAS. KOB TV REPORTS THE NEW LINE WOULD RUN 45 MILES FROM CLINES CORNERS TO A NEW SWITCHING STATION IN SANDOVAL COUNTY TO SUPPLY ELECTRICITY FROM RENEWABLE SOURCES TO FACEBOOK.

IF IT ISN’T RECONSIDERED, FACEBOOK WOULD HAVE TO PAY THE FULL 39-MILLION DOLLARS. AND COMPANY EXECUTIVE SAYS THAT HAS RAISED SERIOUS CONCERNS THAT COULD IMPACT FACEBOOK’S COMMITMENT TO THE OVERALL PROJECT.
