WHEN ALBUQUERQUE’S DISTRICT FOUR CITY COUNCIL SEAT COMES UP FOR ELECTION IN NOVEMBER, BRAD WINTER WON’T BE ON THE BALLOT. THE LONGEST SERVING CITY COUNCILOR HAS DECIDED NOT TO SEEK A SIXTH TERM. HE TELLS NEWSRADIO KKOB HE’S NOT SURE WHAT HE’LL DO NEXT. BUT HE SAYS HE DID ENJOY SERVING ON THE COUNCIL FOR 20 YEARS.
WINTER WAS FIRST ELECTED TO THE COUNCIL IN 1999. HE SAYS TWO OF HIS MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS WERE TWICE REVAMPING THE POLICE OVERSIGHT BOARD…AND SPEAR-HEADING THE LA CUEVA SECTOR PLAN WHICH LED TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE FAR NORTHEAST HEIGHTS.
