Albuquerque Mayor Submits His Budget

ALBUQUERQUE MAYOR TIM KELLER HAS UNVEILED HIS BUDGET PROPOSAL FOR THE NEXT FISCAL YEAR. IT TOTALS 1.1 BILLION DOLLARS…INCLUDING 642 MILLION DOLLARS IN GENERAL FUND SPENDING. HE SAYS IT’S FOCUS IS ON PUBLIC SAFETY, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND HOMELESSNESS.

THE MAYOR SAYS NEARLY HALF OF THE GENERAL FUND BUDGET GOES TOWARD PUBLIC SAFETY…INCLUDING MORE THAN 200-MILLION DOLLARS FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. KELLER SAYS THAT WILL ALLOW APD TO GROW BY MORE THAN 100 OFFICERS. THE CITY COUNCIL MUST APPROVE A BUDGET BY THE END OF MAY.
