Pilot Killed in Plane Crash Near Farmington

AUTHORITIES ARE TRYING TO DETERMINE WHY A SMALL PLANE CRASHED SUNDAY AFTERNOON IN NORTHWESTERN NEW MEXICO, KILLING THE PILOT. DUSTY FRANCISCO WITH STATE POLICE SAYS 59 YEAR OLD MARVIN MONROE CASEY OF BIG SPRINGS, TEXAS WAS THE ONLY PERSON ON BOARD. HE WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD ON SCENE BY THE OFFICE OF THE MEDICAL INVESTIGATOR.

THE INVESTIGATION OF THE CRASH HAS NOW BEEN TURNED OVER TO THE NATIONAL TRANSPORTATION SAFETY BOARD.

THE PLANE WENT DOWN NEAR COUNTY ROAD 7650 AND STATE ROAD 371 BETWEEN CROWNPOINT AND FARMINGTON.
