OFFICIALS WITH THE SANTA FE NATIONAL FOREST ARE DELAYING A PRESCRIBED BURN THAT HAD BEEN PLANNED FOR TUESDAY. THE BURN IS NOW RESCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY, IF CONDITIONS PERMIT.
THE PROJECT IS DESIGNED TO TREAT ABOUT 500 ACRES, INCLUDING 50 ACRES OF PILES, NEAR NICHOLS RESERVOIR IN THE LOWER SANTA FE MUNICIPAL WATERSHED. IF THE WORK MOVES AHEAD, SMOKE WILL LIKELY BE VISIBLE FROM SANTA FE AND OTHER COMMUNITIES ALONG THE I-25 CORRIDOR.
IT IS EXPECTED THE BURN SHOULD BE DONE IN ONE DAY.
