Fire Season Arrives … But Could Lessen

NEW MEXICO’S FIRE DANGER THIS SPRING PROBABLY WON’T BE AS HIGH AS IT WAS A YEAR AGO…THANKS TO AN INCREASE IN THE MOUNTAIN SNOW PACK . THAT ACCORDING TO NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE METEOROLOGIST CLAY ANDERSON. BUT HE SAYS THE THREAT WILL BE THERE LATER ON. HE SAYS THE FIRE DANGER WILL START TO INCREASE IN MAY AND JUNE.

ANDERSON TELLS NEWSRADIO KKOB THE SNOW-WATER EQUIVALENT IN THE NORTHERN MOUNTAINS IS MUCH HIGHER THAN IT WAS A YEAR AGO. AND WITH MORE SNOW IN THE FORECAST FOR NORTHERN NEW MEXICO IN MARCH, THERE’S A CHANCE WE’LL HAVE A SHORTENED FIRE SEASON.
