Background Checks Bill Passes in the House

TOP HOUSE REPUBLICANS HELP GET THE GUN BACKGROUND CHECK BILL APPROVED … AND SAY THAT WAS THE GOAL FOR THE MEASURE EXPANDING BACKGROUND CHECKS REQUIRED FOR MOST GUN SALES. THE MEASURE HAS CLEARED BOTH THE HOUSE AND SENATE AND IS READY FOR THE GOVERNOR’S SIGNATURE. GOVERNOR MICHELLE LUJAN GRISHAM HAS SAID SHE’D SIGN THE BILL THAT GENERATED MUCH OPPOSITION FROM ALL BUT A FEW OF THE STATE’S SHERIFF’S IN ITS 33 COUNTIES.

TWENTY FIVE OF THE COUNTIES HAVE VOTED IN FAVOR OF 2ND AMENDMENT SANCTUARY ORDINANCES TO OPPOSE GUN RELATED BILLS. BUT THE STATE’S BIGGEST COUNTIES … BERNALILLO, SANTA FE AND LAS CRUCES … HAVE NOT.
