NEW MEXICO AND THE NAVAJO NATION CAN MOVE FORWARD WITH THEIR LAWSUITS SURROUNDING THE 2015 GOLD KING MINE SPILL THAT CONTAMINATED HUNDREDS OF MILES OF THE ANIMAS AND SAN JUAN RIVERS. A JUDGE HAS DENIED THE DEFENDANTS’ MOTION TO DISMISS THE CLAIMS. THE LAWSUITS WERE FILED AGAINST THE EPA, ITS CONTRACTORS, AND MINING COMPANIES FOR THE MASSIVE BLOWOUT THAT RELEASED MILLIONS OF GALLONS OF TOXIC WASTE INTO THE ANIMAS RIVER.
