A MAN MONITORING HIS HOME SECURITY CAMERA WHILE AT WORK MONDAY SPOTS TWO PEOPLE ROBBING HIS HOME. POLICE RESPONDED AND USED THEIR AIR SUPPORT TO FOLLOW THE SUSPECTS. POLICE THEN USED, WHAT IS KNOWN AS, A “PIT” MANEUVER TO END THE CHASE.
THE SUSPECTS … 35 YEAR OLD STEVEN GOMEZ AND 27 YEAR OLD DELILAH FERNANDEZ … WERE THEN ARRESTED. DURING THE COURSE OF THE PURSUIT, GOMEZ AND FERNANDEZ DROVE INTO ON-COMING TRAFFIC AND SPED THROUGH INTERSECTIONS. OFFICER SIMON DROBIK SAYS THE CHASE CAME TO AN END NEAR CANDELARIA AND 3RD STREET AND BOTH WERE ARRESTED.
GOMEZ IS CHARGED WITH RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY, AGGRAVATED FLEEING A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER, RECKLESS DRIVING AND OTHER CRIMES. FERNANDEZ IS CHARGED WITH CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT A BURGLARY, POSSESSING DRUG PARAPHERNELIA AND RESISTING ARREST.
