LEGISLATION THAT WOULD PROTECT BOTH PEOPLE AND WILDLIFE ON NEW MEXICO ROADS IS NOW HEADED TO THE STATE HOUSE AFTER BEING APPROVED IN THE SENATE ON A 24-TO-18 VOTE. THE MEASURE FROM SENATOR MIMI STEWART OF ALBUQUERQUE AUTHORIZES THE STATE GAME AND FISH DEPARTMENT AND THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT TO WORK TOGETHER ON A WILDLIFE CORRIDOR ACTION PLAN AND A PRIORITIZED WILDLIFE CORRIDORS PROJECT LIST.
THE TWO DEPARTMENTS WOULD LOOK AT BARRIERS TO WILDLIFE MIGRATION AND THEN RECOMMEND WAYS TO GET RID OF THOSE BARRIERS TO PROTECT BOTH ANIMALS AND HUMANS.
