Phone free schools

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Schools in New Mexico will soon become “phone free”. Senator Crystal Brantley says phones have proven to be a major distraction school leaders have been grappling with nationwide. Adding, students are spending well over five hours a day on social media apps. The bill, signed into law by Gov. Lujan Grisham, sets aside $10 million to reimburse schools for phone storage equipment, like phone lockers or a phone pouch already implemented in Taos schools. The new law requires schools to implement the policy no later than August 1st.
