Jobs for the homeless

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — A program to provide jobs to homeless people staying at Albuquerque’s Gateway Center goes before the City Council tonight for final approval. The Mayor’s Office calls the $650-thousand program “A Better Way Forward.” It would give 40-hour-a-week jobs to up to 16 people to perform things like clean-up tasks around town. They would be paid $12 an hour for up to a year, with the idea of helping them becoming self-reliant.
