Sentence for man who set roommate on fire

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — Albuquerque man sentenced to two decades for murder of roommate. Lawrence Sedillo to spend 20 years in prison for the 2021 murder of his roommate, Renee Benally. During an argument over money at their home near Central and 47th, Sedillo poured gasoline on Benally and set her on fire. He later told officers he blacked out during the attack, only realizing she was burning when he came to. Sedillo pleaded guilty to second-degree murder last year, and Judge Lucy Solimon handed down the maximum 20-year sentence, today. Benally later died from her injuries, leaving the community in shock.
