Addressing downtown vacant buildings

Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — The ordinance to register and improve vacant downtown buildings was signed by Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller Thursday. Terry Brunner of the Redevelopment Agency said at the sidewalk ceremony he’s always being asked what he’s doing to clear the blight. Owners of vacant buildings will have to pay $1-thousand to $5-thousand each year to register them with the City, and that money will go towards security, cleaning and beautification in the area between 1st and 8th, and from Copper to Gold.
