Albuquerque, NM (KKOB) — In a 2-1 decision on Tuesday, a federal appeals court upheld a 2022 conviction against former New Mexico county commissioner Cuoy Griffin. He was charged for illegally entering the U.S. Capitol grounds during the Jan. 6th, 2021, riot. Griffiin said he had entered the Capitol grounds without recognizing it had been designated as a restricted area by the U.S. Secret Service. He was sentenced to 14 days, and given credit for time served after his arrest in Washington. Griffin said he plans to appeal the new ruling.
